For 19 years, electrician Betty Butchart has been maintaining, repairing and trouble-shooting YVR's complex electrical systems, both on the airfield and in the terminal facilities.
YVR’s maintenance crew maintains 17 generators capable of producing 14, 330 kilowatts – that’s enough electricity to power 8,500 homes, 16 sewer stations, three runways and 4,000 taxiway lights. In the profile below, meet Betty Butchart, one of YVR’s electricians.
