Busy Summer means North Runway Departures
Passenger travel is on the increase worldwide, and here at YVR we’re gearing up for the busiest year ever with a projected 16.4 million passengers. To meet the growing demand and reduce delays, the north runway will be used for take-offs starting in June.
As part of our commitment to keep the communities we serve updated on our activities and plans, we hold an Annual Public Meeting in May. If you were unable to attend our meeting this year, you can view the presentations here.

Over two days in April, young people and community leaders from across British Columbia attended two conferences at YVR to share their vision of the province and the airport's role in it.
One of the last remaining features of Vancouver International Airport’s 1960s era terminal is going to disappear. The old control tower, built in 1967, is being dismantled over the next few months as part of the airport’s comprehensive seismic upgrading program.
What does YVR stand for? YVR is Vancouver International Airport’s designator or code. The world’s international airports have three-letter designators, as established by the International Air Transport Association.
