Did You Know?
At YVR, we have 1,413 acres of grass inside the security fence. In order to detract wildlife that may pose a threat to aviation safety, grass is cut at varying heights, depending on the season and local bird activity. For example, from April to June grass is typically cut three to four times per week, while in the drier summer months it is cut much less frequently. Tall grass tends to be less attractive to geese and ducks, but more attractive to smaller birds; with short grass the opposite is true.
