
Welcome to Vancouver International Airport Authority's 2005 Annual Report. This report combines our annual financial reporting with our annual sustainability reporting; it is an overview of who we are, what we do, how we do it, and what we achieved throughout the year.
Included in addition to the
2005 Annual Report are four booklets to provide readers with quick access to information related to the Airport Authority's goal of sustainability in all areas of our business: Governance, Economic, Environmental and Social.
The
2005 GOVERNANCE booklet includes information on our governance practices, our planning process, and our directors and executive. It also includes our 2005 Corporate Governance Report.
The
2005 ECONOMIC booklet provides information on Vancouver International Airport's (YVR) economic impact, the Airport Authority's corporate support program, customer satisfaction ratings,
operational highlights, and our
Unaudited Non-Consolidated Financial Statements.
The
2005 ENVIRONMENTAL booklet contains data on our environmental management programs, including aeronautical noise, air quality, contaminated sites, environmental impact assessments, hazardous materials, natural habitat, resource efficiency, recycling, and water quality.
The
2005 SOCIAL booklet includes information on our employees and employment practices, including health and safety, and our stakeholder and community engagement initiatives and results.
In each section you will see a variety of
symbols related to key sustainability indicators.

The Airport Authority's business philosophy is one of continual improvement. We are committed to working with key stakeholders to develop measures and targets that will drive further improvement in our sustainability performance and reporting. We welcome your comments and suggestions.
The Airport Authority has made every effort to ensure the reliability of all data presented in this report, which have been reviewed and approved by the executive team. Where possible, year-over-year and historical performance data are provided; however, because some indicators are newer and have been tracked for a relatively short period of time, there are variations in the reporting periods. As well, some of the data in this report are collected on a multi-year cycle.
Where indicated, research for this report has been compiled or verified externally to ensure confidentiality and reliability of data. Many of the documents supporting the 2005 Annual Report are public documents that have been subject to both internal and external audit or review.
Except where indicated, the information presented in this report relates exclusively to the activities and initiatives of Vancouver International Airport Authority and its employees, and not to the activities of our subsidiaries, tenants or business partners.
